Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence

Posted 1 year ago by avatar kitkat in response to avatar katia's question: Tell me more about the world-famous cathedral Santa Maria del Fiore in Rome. Thanks for helping. (give a different answer) .

It's huge dimensions are really puzzling. The red teracotta roof is touching the sky. The Duomo, as the Italians call it, is in truth the forth largest cathedral in the world, decorated with frescoes and stained glass windows by Donatello. The constraction began in 1294 and it took 150 years to finish this octogonal unique dome. For a hawk's eye view of Florence, try climbing the cupola. 6 euros tax, but it's a must-visit!
