The Duomo of Naples

Posted 1 year ago by sasha in response to shauli's question: Is it true that the Dome in Napoli helds the head of a saint? Brrr, gives me shivers... (give a different answer) .

Yes, the Duomo hosts the head of the patron saint of Naples, St. Januarius, who is believed to have protected the city of volcanic eruptions and plague. In fact, inside the Domo, one can see the Cappella di San Gennaro, that preserves some of his blood too. The Duomo was constructed in the 13th century by Angevin kings. Go have a look for yourself, but don't land there between 12.30 pm and 4.30pm - it's a prolonged lunch break!
