Padua’s Basilica di Sant’Antonio

Posted 1 year ago by paulette in response to avatar charb's question: Why is Padua a pilgrimage place? Can someone enlighten me about it, please? (give a different answer) .

Well, because it is the location of Saint Anthony’s Basilica. Pilgrims go and pray to St. Anthony, the saint of lost things and patron saint of Padua, to help them find whatever they are looking for. St. Anthony’s tomb is in the basilica, adorned by 14th century frescoes and Donatello’s beautiful sculptures. Check out the equestrian statue in front of the basilica. To get there take bus no. 3, 8, 12, 18 or minibus Diretto piazze no. 32. Get off at Prato della Valle. There, you can take a free Shuttle Bus which goes to the Basilica (except on Sunday), or you can get to the Basilica on foot in ten minutes.
