Is it true Palermo resembles, to some extent, an Arab emirate? I think I read something about that...(give a different answer) .
All Sicily is strewn with Arab domes, Byzantyne mosaics and Norman churches. The Palazzo Reale in Palermo is a proof of these influences, owing to the Arab-Norman architectural style of the Cappela Palatina inside. The palace is, for the time being, the residence of the Sicilian parliament, also known as the Palazzo dei Normanni. The cappela, erected in 1130 by Roger II, displays charming mosaics, along with King Roger's bedroom which is adorned with exquisitive mosaics as well. Admission's free, cheer up!
