it maybe hard to believe, but in Rome there are some places which rent a room for 45 or 60euro. rooms at hotel tizi, situated at via collina are simple but large and clean... and if you don't like having a shared bathroom you must pay 70euro per night. besides, in the low season i've heard of some discounts.
