asheem's question:
What can you tell me about The Capitol in Rome? Is it an ancient Roman ruin?(give a different answer) .
The capitol called Piazza del Campidoglio is situated on top of the hill of Capitoline Hill and was designed by Michelangelo in 1538. It was once the seat of the ancient Roman senate and now the location of the city's municipal government. Michelangelo is also "responsible" for the beautiful facades of the three palaces bordering the piazza. Right of the Palazzo Senatorio you will have a view over Roman Forum and to the left is located the ancient Carcere Mamertino where St Peter was imprisoned. It can be visited from 9 am to noon and from 2 to 5 pm.
