i've heard in rome there are some buses which offer tours around the city.... maybe that would be better than paying for a guide. where do i find them?(give a different answer) .
I recommend Stop-n-Go City Tours (Piazza Cinquecenro 44/48); this agency has available 9 buses which run every hour between 9.30am and 5.30pm and stop at Via Appia Antica, the catacombs, Ostia Antica, Ticoli, the Castelli Romani, the Etruscan towns of Cerveteri and Tarquinia. They depart from Termini bus station. A ticket available one day costs 12 euro.
