Piazza and Basilica di San Marco in Venice

I'd say San Marco Piazza, lined with elegant arcades (Procuratie Vecchie and Procuratie Nuove), dominated by the basilica. In fact, the
place is permanently in jeopardy, as increasing tides are offen likely to flood it. The gondolieri were punting over the square itself in other epochs. Don't miss the 15th Clock Tower, Torre dell'Orologio, as Italians call it, and San Marco Basilica, preserving St. Mark's body. The poor sacred body was traumatized by innumeral reburials. Stolen from its Egyption grave, it has know achieved peace under the high altar.
