if you'd like to visit a center of international research this is possible, by taking part in a guided-tour of the Fondazione Giorgio Cini. Housed in a former monastery this centre has now become the setting of many important cultural, social and educational activities. The tour costs 12€, and 10€ for kids aged 7-12 and seniors.
